DATABASE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Our firm is looking for a database management specialist to be included on our wastewater program management team. The position supports the program management team with troubleshooting software issues, assisting in the creation of efficient workflows, bringing efficiencies to less efficient existing workflows, as well as maintaining a working knowledge of the latest data trends, workflows, and software. Having Wastewater utility data management experience is a plus for this position. Exceptions on education can be made for exceptional candidates

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the attainment of necessary data and documents from various local governmental agencies

  • Provide support in the acquisition of database information and collect detailed and specific data, filter the data of pertinent information, and upload the data into information management system and web-based computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

  • Provide data quality control and analysis to ensure data is filed into proper classification parameters within the information management system to record completed construction of wastewater collection system assets

  • Ability to follow guidelines as well as confidentiality requirements that must be followed by working jointly with primary customer on task

  • Support and assist in providing training sessions or presentations to users on features and procedures for utilizing the information management system and computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

  • Be responsible for managing work to achieve desired results and coordinating various data-related tasks, workflows, and processes

  • Duties can include, troubleshooting software issues, assisting in the creation of efficient workflows, bringing efficiencies to less efficient existing workflows, as well as maintaining a working knowledge of the latest data trends, workflows, and software through research, future education, and conference attendance

  • In lieu of the above tasks, this individual will remain a team player and must be willing to jump in and assist in the completion of time sensitive projects when necessary

Qualifications + Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering or related field preferred

  • Exceptions on education can be made for exceptional candidates

  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in data analysis

  • Proficient use of ESRI ArcGIS and Microsoft Excel

  • Demonstrated ability to train and develop personnel on the use of data programs, processes, and procedures

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to organize multiple projects and be self-led

  • Ability to work efficiently, both independently and cooperatively in a team environment

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with data management, organization, a willingness to learn, and ability to ask questions to obtain desired results if unclear of the task at hand.

  • Proficiency with applications of MS Office Suite

Preferred Skills:

  • Wastewater utility data management experience

  • Enterprise level database knowledge desired; such as SQL database (Microsoft SQL Server is a plus)

  • Database administration and management principles, methods and techniques, including quality control methods and practices

  • Principles and practices of data analysis and design

  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance and quality assurance of a database in a wastewater utility is a plus

  • GIS Certifications

  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems
